Welcome to Rejuvenation Science®!
I'm often asked why nutritional supplements are necessary. Isn't it enough to think positively, eat healthy foods, exercise and get regular check-ups? Over the years, I have developed an answer to this question.
During the last 150 years, a gigantic process of radical change has taken place for humanity. Since the Industrial Revolution, the environment has changed in 150 years as much as it did during the 100,000 year ice age. Introduction of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, chemical fertilizers, preservatives and artificial dyes, solvents, and petrochemical fuels stress our human biological systems, as well as an intensely heightened level of environmental radioactivity, electrical and electromagnetic emanations from an immense number of constantly increasing sources, have negative effect on the human body's metabolism -- to a degree entirely unknown before. Then we have the invention of soda pop, potato chips, margarine, vegetable cooking oils, processed food, and plastic food containers which subtly change what we eat, no matter how healthy we try to be.
Many of conventional medicine's prescription drugs that have been used on a wide-scale basis have frequently turned out to be remedies with very unpleasant side effects. They often cause depletion of critical nutrients. There has been a shift in lifestyles toward increasingly higher demands for performance and more stress.
Our environment has changed substantially over the last 150 years. Instead of giant green forests, meandering clean rivers and streams, pure air and a greatly diversified animal and plant world, today we have a landscape that is increasing characterized by urban development, asphalt and plastic.
Despite all these new environmental stressors, the human body should also remain healthy and productive for several more decades than just 150 years ago. With all this perspective, it seems easier to understand how eating healthy foods, getting exercise and regular medical check-ups may still fall short of ideal in this brave new environment.
I find it unremarkable that the human body needs a bit more than whole foods in order to be fit for the constantly demanding, high level of performance called for in our stressful age. Today, you need additional nutritional supplementation in the form of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, antioxidants, balanced Omega-3 fatty acids, and certain herbal, fruit and vegetable concentrates (or extracts) for optimum performance.
Rejuvenation Science® Maximum Vitality® multivitamin is based on the most elite and comprehensive multiple vitamins, as reported in the Comparative Guide to Dietary Supplements written by Lyle MacWilliam.
High performance athletes are increasingly depending on nutritional help instead of anabolic drugs and other agents from the sorcerer's kitchen of chemistry.
Actually, supplementation is not a new concept. Chicken soup has so many beneficial nutrients that it should be prescribed for colds and flu. Likewise, beef broth has L-Carnitine to aid recovery from the flu. Green tea has been used for centuries, as well as medicinal herbs and mushrooms in various cultures to support immune function.
People who reject nutritional supplements should give pause to these considerations. The world is not the same today as it was 150 years ago, when whole foods grown fresh on local farms provided all the nutrition necessary for the 50% of the pre-industrial revolution population who were farmers to work their small fields, tend their sheep, and care for their families.
Likewise, vitamin and mineral depletion in the soils has become an epidemic. Consequently foods grown on those depleted soils are not going to be rich in minerals as if they were grown on local farms 150 years ago.
Mineral nutrient depletion continues to be a problem in U.S. farm, forest and range soils. This depletion is caused by natural processes, such as weathering and erosion. More significantly, human accelerated depletion is caused by the production of high yield crops and livestock grazing.
Most plants require only three nutrients to grow, namely nitrogen, phosphorus and water. In the presence of these nutrients, virtually all plants will grow into what appear to be healthy, nutritious adult specimens. However, if the vitamins and minerals previously found in their natural habitat are no longer present, these plants and their fruits and vegetables will be nutritionally deficient.
Rejuvenation Science® Skeletal Calcium™ provides the minerals calcium, magnesium, copper, manganese, silica, zinc, manganese, and boron, and important cofactors including Vitamin D, B-6 and C, soy isoflavones, L-Lysine, and folic acid. These minerals supplement those available in an otherwise nutritious diet.
The article on the following pages presents further information and studies demonstrating how today's often-processed foods are nutritionally deficient. We present information to help you choose a nutritional supplement program to help promote general health. Special considerations such as environmental factors, aging, joint health, and vision are then addressed.
